What...another radio guy starting a podcast?
Broadcast Chronicles launches with an eclectic, behind-the-scenes collection of interviews from those in today's Canadian media
Collecting great stories about broadcasters and their journeys…that was the idea. Although I hate the term ‘passion project,’ I simply can’t think of a better way to describe what I embarked on after having heard so many friends and colleagues go through major changes in their media careers. Their stories are interesting, often funny and sometimes a bit shocking. They also highlight some realities as we try to understand who is working in today’s media and how that media landscape is changing. Podcasting just seemed to be the right medium to share these anecdotes with a wider audience.
With the first five interviews being part of that May 1, 2024 launch, here’s a quick Q&A:
Q: Who is the podcast for? Is it for everyone?
Yes, this is about Canadian Broadcasting but the interviews are for anyone and everyone…especially those interested in hearing from the country’s best story tellers. While it’s a Canadian podcast, I’m sure those in the U.S. and around the world would find it a unique and compelling addition to their mobile library.
Q: Where can I find this Broadcast Chronicles podcast and how do I download or subscribe?
You can listen to Broadcast Chronicles on most of the major podcast platforms including Amazon, Apple and Spotify. Here is another quick, direct link: Broadcast Chronicles
Q: Who do you hope to interview in the future?
Notably, I am open to suggestions from followers. Also, if you are a Canadian broadcaster with an interesting story to share, I’d love to hear from you. My specific interest is in those who have had pivotal changes in their TV, Radio or new media broadcasting careers and have a set of stories that Canadians and others around the world would be able to connect with.
Q: How often will you add new episodes?
Five key interviews were part of the May 1, 2024 launch group. New episodes are added on the 1st and 15th of each month.
Q: Are you going to get rich doing this? Or can I help by donating?
No, I won’t get rich. I might be able to cover my costs through donations and some other mild monetization in the future. If you would like to throw a couple bucks my way to help with the project, you can do it with this link: Donate: Broadcast Chronicles
Q: What about the other things you do? Will you continue to do them?
Oh yes. Nothing changes there. Except change is constant.
